Zelenograd hockey player Vassily Ponomarev took part in the international “Four Nations Tournament” held in Plymouth (USA, Minnesota) as part of the junior team of Russia (players no older than 17 years).

He was the captain of the team in all games.

In the first two games, the Russians defeated Switzerland (9: 1) and Slovakia (6: 1). Ponomarev scored a puck in each of the matches, and in a duel with the Slovaks he served two assists to his partners.

In the match with the hosts of the tournament, the squad of Sergei Golubovich was defeated 2:4. The USA and Russia met in the match for the 1st place as a result of the one-round tournament. This time our compatriots won 3:2 in overtime. Ponomarev served one scoring pass in this fight and was recognized as the best Russian team player of the match.

According to the results of the tournament, Vassily entered the top three scorers. Two more Russians, Ilya Rychkov and Ivan Didkovsky, are before him on the list.
