434 Soviet soldiers reburied near Zelenograd

On June 22, on the Day of Memory and Grief, not far from Zelenograd, in the village of Lyalovo, 434 dead defenders of the Fatherland were solemnly reburied. Their remains were found during a search expedition in the village of Pokrov of the urban district of Solnechnogorsk.

Search teams conducted search work from June 2018 to June 2019th.

– On May 25, 2018 a resident of the village of Pokrov called us. He was building a road there. When he had begun to dig the ground with an excavator, he saw human remains. A resident contacted us and the search work started soon, – said the commander of the «Otechestvo» search squad Mikhail Pudovkin.

– Most likely, this is the rear of the 133rd Rifle Division (of the 1st formation), because according to the reports for November 27, 1941 there is no information about the rear of this division. Judging by the maps, they were surrounded, –supposed Mikhail Pudovkin.

At the moment, work is underway to identify the victims.

The requiem was held by the rector of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Father George. During a minute of silence, the soldiers fired three shots into the air. Then the funeral ceremony took place, its participants laid flowers and wreaths to the mass grave.
